In the deadliest attack by Leftist terrorists in India since 2010, 25 brave CRPF jawans attained martyrdom in Sukma.

Many others are injured and undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The CRPF jawans from the 74 Battalion were part of a road opening party helping a group of construction workers build a road in the Naxal-infested hotbed.

A CRPF jawan told the media:

The attack occurred at around 12:25 pm in Kalapathar area of Sukma. Many of the injured were airlifted by the Indian Air Force.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh was in Delhi at the time of the incident. He has cancelled all his engagements and rushed back to the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders condemned the attack:

But across social media people are calling for heavy action against the Naxals, not just words of condolence:

In 2010, 26 CRPF jawans had attained martyrdom in Narayanpur, Chhattisgarh. In between, 44 jawans from CRPF and the state police attained martyrdom in 5-6 attacks.

It should be noted that the anger of many on social media is also directed at the Leftist intellectuals who condemn security forces but defend the Naxals. Many are asking where these self-proclaimed defenders of human rights go missing when the Naxals kill soldiers.
