A US-based couple, who adopted the three-legged Tyagi, spent over Rs. 3 lakh to take him home along with them.

The couple–Sushant and Sheetal– first came to know about Tyagi through a social media post. The three-legged dog, who was usually rejected by many due to his physically challenged state, was adopted by the duo.

They first arranged a non-refundable ticket of Air India flight to Newark worth Rs 1.34 lakh. However, they were later told pets weren’t allowed on a long haul flight.

So, they tore their tickets and searched for another  flight.

Determined to take Tyagi with them, they later bought tickets for a Lufthansa flight, costing around Rs. 2 lakh.

Priya Nagwekar, who rescued Tyagi over two years ago said, “Blessings and best wishes to the family who went against the odds and mentalities and adopted Tyagi instead of imported breeds. This happy tale sets an example about humanity and compassion. Don’t shop a dog, adopt one in need.”
