This Is How Much PM Modi And PMO Have Spent On Their Social Media Outreach

Replying to Aam Admi Party leader and Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s RTI application, the Prime Minister Office (PMO) on March 17 disclosed that PM Modi’s various social media platforms have not cost the exchequer a single rupee since May 2014.


PM Modi, who is one of the most popular names on social media and the most followed politician on Twitter, has an enormous presence on multiple social media platforms and his popularity has only grown since he became the Prime Minister in May 2014.

He not only has his own APP now but is also very active Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Google.


According to reports, while replying the Sisodia’s RTI, the PMO categorically stated that they have run no social media campaign on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube or Google accounts since taking office.

Further, even the official mobile app of the PM Office – “PMO India” cost nothing as it was designed by students in a contest that conducted by MyGov and online platform Google.

“There was no cost except the prize money in developing the App and even this prize money has been paid by Google.”

They also made it clear that the ‘Narendra Modi App’, that is often referred by the PM in his speeches, has not been developed by the PMO or the government, and nor is it maintained by them.


They though added that the Modi APP and the websites and are used by the people to connect and interact with the PM and according to the developer details on these platforms, these are developed and maintained by the BJP IT Cell.
