But why is the show coming to a close. Kapil told the TOI that he was disappointed with the “step-motherly” treatment accorded to his show by the channel.

His is objecting to the channel airing a show similar in content to his.

“Celebrities who readily agreed to come on our show were told that they will have to make an appearance on the other show as well. I understand the pressure on the channel to work towards making their shows a hit, but not at the cost of sabotaging an established one,” Kapil said.

Kapil’s show has been applauded by viewers for its spontaneous, tongue-in-cheek style of comedy. Many top Bollywood celebrities have graced the show often coming over to promote their shows.

But the show itself has not been without criticism. Feminists have called it misogynistic. Opinions have scathingly criticised the tone and tenor of the show.

Besides that, there have been differences between Kapil and some other actors, notably Sunil Grover, who played the role of Guthi.
