Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has added another feather to his cap. The ‘clean my coach’ service, which has been in contemplation since last year, was launched by Prabhu late on Friday.
The service helps passengers request for the cleaning of a dirty train coach.
Besides a dedicated webpage for the purpose, there is an Android App and the SMS facility.
A passenger can simply shoot an SMS to 58888 and lo and behold, a cleaner will emerge out of nowhere.
All you need to do is this:
Alternatively, a passenger can enter his PNR number on the webpage ‘cleanmycoach.com‘ (which is like any other sarkari webpage) and avail the service.
And if that is too much of work, an Android App ‘Cleanmycoach Indian Railways’ is there too.
The Ministry says that the service is in line with railways’ own ‘Swachh Rail Swachh Bharat’ and ‘Digital India’ missions.
As of now the service is available in New Delhi/Northern Railway, Mumbai Central/Western Railway and Lucknow Jn/North Eastern Railway.
The government has now made it impossible for people to complain that no one comes to clean the coach. It is now up to the people to ensure that they themselves keep the coach clean.
