Chatterbox: Your Cat’s Meow Will Make Sense To You With This Translator

A cat owner can get very frustrated when they can’t understand the notorious purrs and meows their cats make. Cats are one those mystifyingly aloof creatures who are mysterious as well as really hard to understand, unlike dogs.

A new invention by ‘Temptations Cat Treats’ is a solution to all your problems, cat mommies and daddies. They have recently invented a cat collar that lets your feline speak in a real human voice—so you can finally understand what s/he is trying to tell you.

A London ad agency adam&eveDDB has created The Temptations Catterbox. It contains a microphone, a speaker, Bluetooth technology and wifi. The prototype has been launched in the US and in New Zealand.

The Catterbox is the genius work of the new Temptations Lab, a scientific-sounding “research workstream dedicated to the future of fun times with your cat”.

The machine captures your cat’s distinctive meows and translates them into human speech—words that may or may not actually be what they’re trying to say.

It is 3-D printed. They have also kept the cat’s comfort in their minds and have used rubber lacquer. The machine is available in four colors so chose whichever one your cat likes.

The executive creative director of adam&eveDDB, Richard Brim, expressed how hard it is to understand cats and said:

Cats are often perceived as quite hard to get to know, independent pets, so we set up The Tempations Lab to find innovative ways to inject even more fun into a cat and owner’s relationship.

Temptations global brand director, Pete Simmons talked about what made them start with this invention:

We’re fascinated by cats, so we set out on a mission to get to know them better,” “Through research, we learned that an adult cat’s meow is their way to communicate with humans and, by investing in this prototype device, we can start to improve understanding between them both—giving cats a voice for the very first time. At the Temptations brand, we are passionate about bringing cats and owners together. We have always done this through our treats, but we wanted to go one step further.

I guess cats will be happy about being able to ask for treats directly.
