Britannica’s COO Commits Suicide As He Couldn’t Cope Up With Things

Encylopedia Britannica’s South Asia division COO, Vineet Whig, allegedly committed suicide by jumping from 19th floor of a building in Gurgaon on May 15.

He is survived by his wife and three children. His death came as a shock to his family and his father Om Whig has been hospitalized.

Police said Whig was found dead by cleaning staff inside the shaft with a suicide note in his pocket. The suicide note said:

“I am taking my own life, no one is responsible. I am unable to cope. I am sorry. I am depressed. I see no way out except for suicide. yes, I am a coward. I should have faced life.”

It is reported that Whig was contemplating suicide for some time.

“A security guard from the society told cops that he had gone to the C block on May 14 too. He probably was contemplating suicide,” said ACP Hawa Singh.

Whig had earlier worked with IT giant Wipro and was a avid photographer. His suicide has once again raised concerns about rise in depression among white-collar employees.
