Using his effective diplomatic strategy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made the BRICS summit a huge success for India and the developing world. Significant deals were signed between member countries. India and Russia cemented their very strong diplomatic ties with deals worth around $10 billion, including the purchase of S-400 Triumf missile defence system.
And India curtly reminded the international community that Pakistan is the “mother-ship of terrorism” in the presence of Islamabad’s strongest ally, China.
The occasion is the customary dinner on a Saturday evening in Goa. This is the second time India is the host country for the BRICS summit, but it is the first time that visiting BRICS leaders are wearing an Indian dress at the summit. The last time was in 2012 under Manmohan Singh regime.
