Bollywood has fans all around the world who love nothing more than to lose themselves in this world of song-and-dance and over-the-top plotlines. Apparently, there are more of these people than I previously thought, because Dubai will soon have a Bollywood-based theme park.
Bollywood Parks is a “celebration of Mumbai’s legendary film industry in 5 zones inspired by Bollywood blockbusters” that will open on 31 October, 2016. Patrons will be entertained with rides as well as live shows and stage performances.
One of the latest rides finalized on is based on Aamir Khan’s ‘Lagaan’. The ride, called ‘Lagaan: Thrill of Victory’, will led riders experience a cricket match with Bhuvan taking on the British Raj. A roller-coaster motion simulator will give the riders the point of view of a moving cricket ball.
“The ride is about giving people an exciting time, giving you a feeling of exhilaration, and it will take you back to the film. So, for people who have watched the movie, it will be a nostalgic experience. For everyone, we wanted it to be an exciting ride, it’s very thrilling, it’s bound to give you a rush,” explained actor Aamir Khan.
In addition, the park will have restaurants based on the movies ‘Rock On’ and ‘Mughal-e-Azam’, a 3D media tunnel where you chase and try to catch ‘Don’ Shah Rukh Khan, a ‘Dabangg’-based stunt show, and a 3D ride where you can shoot dacoits led by the terrifying Gabbar Singh from ‘Sholay’.
