Separatist-turned-politician Sajjad Gani Lone has resigned from the newly formed PDP-BJP government
in Jammu and Kashmir, just a day after he was sworn in.
Sajjad, who is son of former separatist leader Abdul Gani Lone, and was a separatist himself before he joined BJP, tendered his resignation to Mehbooba Mufti
on April 6.
He was apparently unhappy about the portfolio of Social Welfare and Administrative Reforms Training, that was given to him.
Lone’s resignation has not yet been accepted and Mufti is still awaiting final word from BJP.
The situation is an awkward one for Mehbooba as Sajjad was made minister from the quota of saffron party.
When Mehbooba’s father and former Jammu and Kashmir CM Mufti Mohammed Sayeed was in government, Lone was allocated Animal Husbandry portfolio.
He had resigned over the portfolio that time as well but was persuaded not to press for it.
According to PTI, after tending his resignation to Mehbooba, Lone did not meet any of the BJP leaders and rather left Jammu to reach New Delhi. The reports also claim, that though he is visiting Delhi for an eye treatment, there is a strong possibility of him meeting senior BJP leaders to register his unhappiness.
