SIT Bihar on September 5 filed a 4124-page chargesheet against 32 accused who are involved in the infamous Bihar’s toppers’ scam.
SIT team which is being headed by Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manu Maharaj said that the chargesheet is being filed in Patna civil court and that it has been filed against former Chairman of Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) Lalkeshwar Prasad Singh, his wife and former JD(U) (Janata Dal (United)) legislator Usha Sinha, Bachcha Rai, kingpin and former director of V R College and former board secretary Harharnath Jha.
This is the largest chargesheet that has been filed in Bihar since the infamous fodder scam.
SSP Maharaj also added that 20 of these 32 accused are government employees and the remaining 12 include four fake toppers including Ruby Rai and Saurabh Shreshtha.
Nine of these 32 accused are still absconding.
Ahead of filing the charge sheet, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar had thanked media for exposing the scam.
It was after a media interview with “toppers” Ruby and Saurabh that the scam got exposed. In the interview, it was found that at least two toppers lacked even basic knowledge of the subjects they had taken.
