BHU Team Develops App Called ‘Har Har Mahadev’ That Blocks Porn Sites

As per a recent report published in the The Times of India, a new application has now been developed to block unwanted sites including the pornographic. The app is designed to curb the existence of ‘bad’ content on the internet.

The app has been developed by a neurologist and his team, at the Institute of Medical Sciences of Banaras Hindu University (IMD-BHU).

A unique name has been given to the app. It is termed – ‘Har Har Mahadev’. The application is designed in a way that it easily blocks pornography, violence and vulgar content circulating which keeps doing rounds on the internet. Today, the internet is a vast medium and it has all sorts of viewership.

The porn viewing audience in developed nations is large. However, this app will block sites promoting pornography and violence.

“We have developed the website blocker and internet filtering services, so one can surf safely without any fear of opening adult or objectionable sites,” revealed Dr. Vijay Nath Mishra of Institute of Medical Sciences- Banaras Hindu University’s neurology department.

“We will update it further as more and more unwanted sites are cropping up daily,” Mishra explained further.

It has also been mentioned in the report that after downloading and registering, the app will play devotional songs whenever the user attempts to open a site that is ‘inappropriate’. The development process of the app took almost six months.

The site is developed in a way that it can easily block about 3,800 identified sites, reveals the report. The team is further working on developing devotional songs of other religions as well.
