Okay, so the gloves are off. The daggers are out. The throbbing of the furious hearts of the belligerents can be heard from a mile away. Barkha Dutt just launched an acerbic attack on Times Now editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami for airing a show last night, July 26, on the pseudo-seculars among the intelligentsia and the support they receive from a section of the media. Note that nowhere in his show did Arnab name any journalist nor allow any of the panelists to name one. Their attacks on the non-Kashmiri intellectuals who call Burhan Wani a “martyr” and accuse the Indian Army of “committing atrocities” on Kashmiris was not mere rhetoric.
So, on June 27, Barkha posted this on her official Facebook page.
She calls Arnab Goswami a ‘chamcha’ (stooge) of the Modi government. All that Goswami ever did was expose those who side with the terrorists in Kashmir and their sympathisers. He and the panelists chastised those in India who show solidarity with Kashmir’s (unwarranted) demand for ‘azaadi
’ without ever talking about the plight of Kashmiri Pandits who were forced to leave their homeland behind.
And why is Barkha mad at Arnab?
Because Arnab lashed out at the ‘pseudo-liberals’, including “a section of the Indian media” for “abusing our army” and “directly or indirectly supporting Pakistan, Hafiz Saeed” and terrorists like Burhan Wani.
One needs to note here that Lashkar-e-Toiba chief Hafiz Saeed had recently praised Barkha Dutt, and those like her, who side with Kashmiris demanding secession from India.
Of course, social media did not find Dutt’s response worth it.
