Just a few days ago, Kashmir’s new poster boy of terror Zakir Rashid Bhat exhorted the people of Kashmir to wage war against the government in the name of Islam and not Kashmiri nationalism.

Zakir Rashid Bhat succeeded Burhan Wani as the commander of Hizbul Mujahideen.

What Bhat, the successor of slain Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani, said is nothing new. In 2016, Hizbul Mujahideen founder Syed Salahuddin, too, had said that the Kashmiri struggle is not for so-called “azaadi” but about Islam.

The terrorists, the separatists and their supporters in Kashmir may cite any reason to wage war against the government in the world’s largest and most effective democracy but what is not acceptable is using little children as weapons.

This video shows a kid raising anti-India, pro-azaadi and Islamist slogans as a crowd of supporters cheer on. What is shocking is that sitting in the audience are Islamists who are excited to see a little child raising dangerous slogans.

Of course, the video is being condemned on social media. The child is innocent. He doesn’t know what he is doing and has been educated and trained to raise such hateful slogans by the fanatics around him.

What is to be noted is that this is the gear the separatists and the terrorists have switched to. They want to show to a biased media of India and the world that even children in Kashmir are calling for freedom.

This is not the first instance of children raising such slogans. During the agitation in the Valley following Burhan Wani’s death, many teenagers were seen pelting stones. This is why many of them were injured in the subsequent action taken by the security forces.

What is also important to note here is that the mainstream media, which quickly finds flaw in someone like Yogi Adityanath, is silent about this radicalization of young impressionable minds in J&K. Some of them may even support this radicalization. The media also highlighted and headlined the injuries to stone pelters but did not comment on why the separatists were pushing children to the frontlines.

In February this year, Major Gaurav Arya shared a video showing Kashmiri children raising similar slogans before security force personnel.

So what’s next? Placing guns in the hands of children in Kashmir?
