Akshay Replaced Warsi in ‘Jolly LLB 2’, Now Warsi To Star In ‘Aankhen 2’ And Replace Akshay

Arshad Warsi aka circuit is having a lazy run at the box office. With his recent flops like ‘Guddu Rangeela’, ‘Dedh Ishqiya’, his stardom that mounted with Golmaal series and Munnabhai series seems to fade away. Also, the sequel of his last hit ‘Jolly LLB’, which won a National Award, is out of his pockets. Honestly, he is under-utilised. Maybe his average looks and his stout body have overpowered the talent he owned.

With his recent exit from ‘Jolly LLB 2’, he spoke about why Akshay Kumar succeeded in getting the lead role, not him:

“I am not doing it. Akshay is doing it. I was supposed to do it, but Fox Star Studios needed a bigger star, so they chose Akshay.  It makes it easier for marketing, it makes it easier to have a hit. With me, you have to make a good film, so that is the problem. You can make money with me only if it’s a very good film.”

There is a no doubt that Akshay is a bigger and better star than him and is commercially the right man to carry the franchise forward. But, is it not disrespectful for an actor to lose a franchise which he started off?

Now, tables have turned and Arshad Warsi has replaced Akshay Kumar in ‘Aankhen 2’ and I guess, it is even now. The movie is a sequel to ‘Aankhen’ and also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Regina Cassandra, Ileana D’Cruz and Anil Kapoor in lead roles. The story will revolve around three blind protagonists planning to rob a casino and Anees Bazmee will wear the director’s hat.

On getting this role in place of Akshay, Arshad jokingly said, Bahut purani planning hai. Humne bachpan main socha tha kya karenge. It’s a coincidence. It happens at times. Abhi isme koi kuch nahi hai. Hota hai aisa. Kabhi koi yeh role kar leta hai. So, it’s fine.”

It’s Arshad’s first film with Big B and he is excited like never before:

“From my childhood, I have loved him. He is my hero and always will be. I respect all other actors but when you love somebody he is everything. I am so happy to be here and I don’t think any actor is complete if he hasn’t shared the screen with Mr. Bachchan.”

The shooting of ‘Aankhen 2’ will start on January 1, 2017.
