It’s Indian premier League (IPL) season and one just can’t overlook the gorgeous anchor Archana Vijaya. Here are some things you should know about her:
Archana Vijaya was born on 17 November 1982 in Kolkata. She completed her studies from the University of Kolkata.
From a shy, simple, and ordinary college-going girl, her life changed when she won the first season of ‘Get Gorgeous’ in 2004 and from then, she was unstoppable.
She has modeled for various fashion brands and leading designers – Tarun Tahiliani, Rohit Bal, Narendra Kumar, Sabyasachi, Manish Mahlotra to name a few.
A self-confessed travel junkie, her dream came true when Neo Cricket, asked her to host ‘Tour Diary’, a travel show where she was traveling with the Indian cricket team and the visiting team to their various playing destinations. This was also her first tryst with cricket.
She also hosted travel shows like Freedom Express 1 and 2, where she travelled through India by train.
Given her looks and talent, she also got an opportunity to host IPL season 4. Archana, who hails from a Rajasthani family, said that it inspired her to work hard to change her presentation style.
While it may seem easy, she has had her share of struggle. Being in a male dominated industry, it wasn’t not a cake-walk to establish herself. She stated that she observes people passing comments the moment a well-dressed woman anchor takes charge. She said:
“Women anchors must not only dress well, look good but make sense when they talk, else they will all appear silly. You have to prove the comments wrong and that can come only through your hard work, which is what I did and continue to do.”
With nothing deterring her, she also proved her dancing skills in ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’ 5 and was a participant in sixth season of ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’.
If not working, this beautiful lady likes to watch TV and catch up with some reading. A place where she can go an umpteen time is Paris, a city close to her heart.
While work is going great for Archana, her personal life has taken a turn for good. She recently got married to a Delhi-based businessman Dheeraj Puri, whom she dated for two years.
