Haryana Sports Minister In Soup For Donating Rs.50 Lakh To Dera Sacha Sauda For ‘Sports Development’

He went with his entourage to Rio at cheer the players from his state at the Olympics 2016 at a cost of Rs.1 crore which was criticized, but Haryana sports minister Anil Vij is again in the books of controversy for a donation.

Vij recently donated Rs.50 lakh for the promotion of sports. That appears to be a noble thing, isn’t it? Would have been if the donation was not made to Dera Sacha Sauda, which is headed by Baba Ram Rahim.

Though there is no problem in donating anything for the promotion of sports but Vij is being criticized by the opposition because none of the sports events held at the Dera Sacha Sauda Stadium is played at the Olympics.

“Dera Sacha Sauda MSG Stadium is giving a lot of encouragement to sports. In order to further promote the sports culture in Haryana, I have decided to give Rs.50 lakh from my fund,” Vij is heard saying.

Reports say that the Opposition slammed the minister and the state government for the donation. Vij defended himself saying that it was his own money that he was donating to the Dera.

The announcement of the donation was made during the Tiranga Rumal Chhu League organized by the Dera.

Vij was earlier slammed for taking a nine-member entourage to Rio at a cost of Rs.1 crore of taxpayers’ money.
