Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his 26th address of Mann ki Baat on November 27 remembered Harivansh Rai Bachchan, father of Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan on his birth anniversary.
In his monthly radio programme, the Prime Minister thanked Amitabh Bachchan for being the face of the “city compost” campaign of Swachh Bharat Mission. The campaign encourages citizens to use compost produced from municipal solid waste.
PM Modi lauded Big B’s efforts in appealing all citizens and spreading the message of ‘Clean India.’
The prime minister said Amitabh sent me a poem of his father, a line of which goes- “Swachh tan, swachh mann, Swachh Bharat, mera parichay”. He said it speaks about the actor’s dedication in spreading the cause.
On this, Big B praised the prime minister for acknowledging his small contribution. He tweeted:
Earlier, Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu spoke to the megastar and thanked him for agreeing to be the face of the ministry’s new communication campaign encouraging citizens to use “city compost” produced from municipal solid waste.
In his Mann Ki Baat message, PM Modi also thanked citizens and banks across the nation for accepting demonetisation and braving the following inconsequences, while accusing the opposition in a veiled attack, of misleading the nation over the scheme.
