Pushing, Shoving And Crossed Swords; Akhilesh – Shivpal’s Differences On Display Again

It seems that even Samajwadi Party’s Silver Jubilee celebrations could not lessen the differences between UP CM Akhilesh Yadav and Shivpal Yadav and rather the event become yet another ground where the duo were seen taking barbs at each other and making differences between them known even more publicly.

The celebrations was Samajwadi Party’s first family event together since differences within the party became public knowledge and despite the best efforts by many political heads, the differences between the Akhilesh and Shivpal could not be reduced.

The fierce fight once again began with Shivpal pushing Akhilesh’s supporter Javed Abidi on stage, while he was giving a speech in support of Akhilesh.

While party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav, RJD Supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and JD(S) leader H D Deve Gowda tried their level best to broker peace between the two, the attempt to forge an alliance seems to have gone to waste as cutting remarks by Shivpal and Akhilesh, openly exposed the deep divisions within the party.

While Shivpal fired the first salvo by hinting Akhilesh only became UP chief minister because he was Mulayam’s son.

“Some people get things because of fate, some through hard work and some as part of inheritance. But some keep doing hard work through their lives and don’t get anything.”

Akhilesh, hitting back, hinted at the sword that was earlier given to him said  “Prajapati has presented me the sword. You give me a sword and don’t want me to use it?”

Even though later Lalu made an attempt to paper over the divide in the SP family by declaring everything was all right, Shivpal and Akhilesh’s behavior hinted otherwise.
