Fed up of rumors surrounding Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa’s health, her party AIADMK has started a social media campaign to counter that.
The party has asked the minister’s– popularly known as Amma– followers to change their profile picture to the one which says ‘My CM Is Fine, No More Rumours’.
The chief minister has been admitted in Apollo hospital in Chennai since September 22 after complaints of fever and dehydration.
According to the doctors treating her, the 68-year-old CM, her condition is improving
and she is under constant monitoring. The hospital, in a statement, said, “The respiratory support is closely watched and adjusted. Lungs decongestion treatment is being continued. All other comprehensive measures including nutrition, supportive therapy and passive physiotherapy are under way.”
Many of her supporters have organised yagnas and offered prayers for her speedy recovery.
Political leaders from various parties have visited the hospital to inquire about her condition. Only today, Union minister M Venkaiah Naidu
visited the hospital and said Jayalalithaa is recovering well.
Meanwhile, Chennai police has arrested two people for spreading rumours about minister’s health.
The arrested were identified as Satish Kumar, 26, and Madasamy, 25. Satish Kumar is employed in a private firm while Madasamy has been employed in a private company in Velachery. “The technician manages a website which uploaded an audio said to be the voice of an employee of the Apollo Hospitals about CM’s health. The IT engineer posted false information on the Facebook about CM’s health,” said the police. Both deliberately uploaded messages and audio clips to create panic on the chief minister’s health, said the police.
