Ghalib Guru, son of Afzal Guru, the parliament attack convict who was hanged three years back, has passed the class 10th examination conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Examination, with flying colours.

Ghalib has got 95 per cent marks with the highest grade ‘A1,’ scoring 474 marks out of 500.

He has secured A1 grade in all five subjects.

This brilliant performance of Ghalib became a talking point on the social media with many praising his achievements, despite facing a lot of difficulties.

Former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah tweeted:

Ghalib said that he has interest in every subject but the passion of becoming a cricketer is still with him. He is planning to opt for medical subjects.

He is aspiring to become a civil servant and wants to qualify the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination.

Here are some tweets:

Chairman of Moderate Hurriyat faction Umar Farooq also tweeted:

Tabassum Guru, mother of Ghalib, had said that she wanted a normal and peaceful life for her family.

In an interview with a local daily in Kashmir, she said that he wanted his son to become a doctor.

Tabassum said that she wanted him to pursue medicine like his father had at one point of time. Afzal Guru was enrolled in a local medical college but left the MBBS course midway. However, according to her, his father Afzal wanted that his son should study art, literature and Islamic studies.

Tabassum also said that whenever she visited Afzal in jail, Ghalib used to tell his father that he wants to be a doctor, and then Afzal lauds his intellect and says he will crack any competitive exam.

However, Ghalib said he is still undecided about his subjects and will take a decision on this soon.

Afzal Guru was hanged to death on February 9 in 2013 following his conviction in the Parliament attack case.

On the other side, the brother of Burhan Wani, commander of Hizb-Ul-Mujahideen, has also passed class 10th examination with good grades. The son of another militant, Gulzar Ahmad, who was killed in August, has secured excellent grades in class 10th examination.

These results are the eye-opener that these young children have potential of delivering and serving their society. The only thing which is needed is proper guidance and exposure.

Moreover, it is also important that their past should not shadow their future in any way.
