One of Bollywood’s most successful actors, Shahrukh Khan, who was in Delhi to collect his college degree from Hansraj College, faced protests from ABVP students. The 50-year-old Dilwale star was also in his alma mater to launch a song from his next, Fan, which is also set in Delhi.
It is believed that a group of students probably affiliated to ABVP, staged protest outside Delhi University’s Hansraj College where SRK came for an event and shouted slogans against Khan telling him to go back.

‘Shah Rukh Khan Murdabad’ and ‘Go Back Shah Rukh’ were shouted by more than 10 students who stood outside the college’s main gate. Police said that some students were protesting outside the gate for few minutes before ShahRukh’s arrival. “We asked them not to do that and after a while they left. They were shouting slogans ‘Go back Shah Rukh’.
A media report suggested that about eight to ten protesters were taken to Maurice Nagar police station. They were let off after an hour.
The superstar is an alumnus of the 1985-1988 batch and had studied BA in Economics.
SRK has faced a lot of backlash after his comment on intolerance last November
. He had said that the extreme intolerance growing in the country. Voicing his feelings over the growing intolerance and return of awards by filmakers, science and writers, Shah Rukh had earlier said he would not hesitate to give up his awards as a “symbolic gesture” if he has to but feels he does not have to do so. “Religious intolerance and not being secular…is the worst kind of crime that you can do as a patriot,” he had said. When asked whether he would return an award — on the lines of what writers and filmmakers have been doing as a form of protest — he said, “No one can force me to do anything I don’t want to, but let me get a National Award, and then I will return it.” He added that he respected the writers for what they are doing.
He faced lot of criticism for his comment particularly from the right-wing groups.
Recently, SRK’s car was pelted with stones in Ahmedabad where he was shooting for his another film, Raees.
At least seven persons, claimed to be associated with the right-wing organization Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) were detained by police. Even the Gujarat unit of VHP claimed responsibility for the incident. Raju Pate, the outfit’s State spokesperson said the detained persons are associated with VHP and threw stones on Shahrukh’s car as part of their ongoing protests against the actor.
