Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator Rituraj Govind from Nithari Village, Delhi was arrested by Delhi Police on November 6, after being detained on November 5.
Govind had allegedly violated police order of restriction on large gatherings on November 5 when he along with his supporters were protesting near a pond in Kirari area of Delhi.
They were protesting during November 5 Chhath Puja celebrations as they were not being allowed to conduct puja by the local police.
Govind had got a permission to conduct the puja initially, but the permission was later withdrawn as the date of the puja had gotten nearer.
Following his detention, a FIR was lodged against Govind on November 6 and later arrested him.
Since AAP came to power in February 2015, as many as 20 AAP MLAs have been arrested for various reasons.
AAP chief and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal had accused the Centre for this, and said they are “sending Delhiites to jail under false cases”.
