A Dalit family from Mau, Uttar Pradesh recently hosted Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi and the party state President Ghulam Nabi Azad for a meal.
However, the family didn’t have enough food supplies to feed the leaders and had to borrow it.
They borrowed flour, vegetables and the like and served rotis and potato chokha to the leaders.
The family head Swaminath said that Rahul is like God to them and they had to prepare a decent meal, no matter what.
Though they told about their problems to Rahul, they didn’t tell about having to borrow food.
“Rahul ji enquired about our living and the problems we are facing. I told him that we hardly manage to meet our basic needs,” Swaminth said. Rahul Gandhi is touring Uttar Pradesh and addressing rallies ahead of the 2017 state polls.
