Shiv Charan Yadav, a Rajasthani villager, is all set for his 47th attempt at the class 10 exam. He first took the exam in 1968.
He vowed long ago not to marry until he clears this exam.
In 1995, he almost passed the exam but failed Maths. Since then, his performance has deteriorated. Last year, he cleared Social Sciences and failed all the other subjects.
Most villagers make fun of Yadav’s persistence, only a few respect his hard work.
His friend Ramkesh Meena says,
Seeing him going for the examinations is a rare treat. He goes to the temple just like the other students about to take examinations. We hope he will be able to make it this time.
This year, he looks more determined and hopes to find a job after passing the exam.
“This year, I will get married. I know I’ll find a bride,” says Charan Yadav.

is going through right now,
