Many of us remember the day West Indies player Chris Gayle smashed the ball all around the park in 2013, to create the 30-ball ton, the fastest century in T20 cricket.

While that memory is still fresh in our mind, the record set by Gayle has been smashed and that too by an almost unknown 23-year-old cricketer Iraq Thomas, who too is from the Caribbeans.

Thomas, according to reports not only shattered Gyale’s record, but did it 9 deliveries faster than Gayle (or just 21 balls).
Thomas achieved this feat by hitting 15 sixes and 5 fours.
He was playing for the Scarborough/Mason Hall United team, in a match organised by the Tobago Cricket Association. Their opponent Spyeside, had put up a competitive target of 152 after batting first, but Thomas made a complete mockery of their score when he smashed 131 runs himself out of the given target and chased it down in just the eight over.
Thomas smacked a total of 131 off 31 balls.

Thomas’ ton now goes goes down as the fastest century in all formats of the game be it T20, ODI or Test.
