India on July 26 observed the 17th Kargil Vijay Diwas to commemorate the victory in the war against Pakistan in 1999.

Named after Operation Vijay, it commemorates the day when Indian soldiers took back the high outposts that were earlier taken over by Pakistan.

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Army, Navy and Air Force chiefs also paid homage in a memorial service at Amar Jawan Jyoti in the National Capital to commemorate the sacrifice made by our jawans.

PM Modi took to Twitter to glorify the sacrifices made by the soldiers:

 

Home Minister Rajnath Singh also paid his tribute to the martyrs.

 

Meanwhile, Army Chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag paid homage to martyrs of Operation Vijay at the War memorial in Drass on July 25.
