A 10-Year-Old Dies As DU Professor Rams Car Into His Cycle; She Was Busy On Phone

A 10-year-old lost his life due to carelessness of a Delhi University professor, who was allegedly on phone when she rammed the car into his bicycle.

He was rushed to hospital but, he later succumbed to his injuries. According to residents of the area, the victim was trapped beneath a tyre of the car.

Nitesh Mann, a Class VI student from south west Delhi, was on his way to home when the accident happened.

“I used to bring sweets from the feasts whenever I came late. He used to open the door for me always and ask for sweets. Everything is lost now,” said the grieving mother of the child.

Police has arrested the car driver and identified her as Anupama Aggarwal, an assistant lecturer of Bhagini Nivedita College.

“A case has been registered at Chhawla police station. The woman was arrested and later released on bail. She took the boy to the hospital, but the boy could not be saved. The family members were agitated and she went in front of them and begged forgiveness. She also asked them to punish her,” said Surender Kumar, DCP (south west).
